The MS21081-3 is a self-locking anchor nut (corner nutplate) fabricated from steel with a nonmetallic locking insert. This captive nutplate provides a threaded fastening point on aircraft structures where backside access is limited or impractical. The nutplate is installed by riveting the plate to the airframe, creating a permanent anchor for machine screws used in access panel and bracket assemblies.
The nonmetallic insert prevents fastener loosening from vibration during flight operations. Torque the mating screw per aircraft maintenance manual specifications to ensure proper clamp load and locking performance.
