The NAS680A5 is a two-lug self-locking plate nut manufactured in steel with an all-metal prevailing-torque design. This NAS680 series fastener features straight rivet holes for permanent installation where backside access is limited, such as aircraft access panels and structural enclosures. The nut creates captive threads by riveting through both lugs into the underlying structure.
Installation requires two rivets matching the plate pattern, with final torque applied per the aircraft maintenance manual. Superseded by NASM21048/MS21048 specifications.
