The S1821502-02 is a fixed-installation emergency locator transmitter (ELT) for aircraft distress signaling. It transmits on 406 MHz to COSPAS-SARSAT satellites for rescue coordination and broadcasts a 121.5 MHz homing signal for local search operations. The transmitter mounts aft in the fuselage and connects to an external antenna and cockpit-mounted remote switch for crew activation.
Qualified to FAA TSO-C91a and TSO-C126 standards, it's specified in Cessna aircraft systems. Installation and periodic testing must follow the aircraft maintenance manual and comply with 14 CFR 91.207 emergency locator transmitter requirements.
