The 138-5 is an overvoltage relay protecting aircraft DC electrical systems from charging circuit faults. Installed between the alternator and voltage regulator, it monitors bus voltage and trips to disconnect the charging circuit or alternator field when overvoltage is detected. This prevents damage to avionics, instruments, and the battery during regulator failure or system malfunction.
Installation requires proper wiring verification and compliance with aircraft maintenance manual specifications and FAA-approved data.
Please note: Product descriptions are provided for informational purposes. Always refer to your aircraft's Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC) to verify part compatibility and specifications.

Avionics compatibility depends on your aircraft model and existing installation. The OVER VOLTAGE RELAY is available in: As Removed. We recommend checking your aircraft's wiring diagrams and STC documentation, or contact our avionics team for compatibility assistance.
Availability of an FAA 8130-3 tag depends on the part condition. Overhauled and repaired units typically include 8130-3 documentation. As-removed units may include a removal tag with trace history. Contact us for specific documentation on the condition you need.
