The 17500-31 is a static discharge wick that dissipates precipitation static electricity from aircraft trailing edges. This small, pointed component bleeds off accumulated charge to reduce electromagnetic interference with COM and NAV radio systems. Commonly installed on wing and tail trailing edges of general aviation aircraft including Beechcraft King Air models.
The wick must be bonded to the aircraft structure per maintenance manual specifications to ensure effective grounding. Installation follows FAA AC 43.13-1B guidance for proper electrical continuity and corrosion protection.
