The MS21083 is a self-locking hex nut with a prevailing-torque nonmetallic insert designed for aerospace fastening applications. Steel construction with Class 3B internal threads maintains clamp load under vibration and flight stresses. The low-height form fits compact installations in airframe structures and bracket assemblies.
The nylon insert creates resistance to loosening without requiring lock washers or safety wire. Install using standard wrench techniques, following AC 43.13-1B torque specifications. Replace the insert if reused to ensure prevailing-torque effectiveness.
