The a-005-153-13-28 is a camshaft position sensor for aircraft piston engines with electronic ignition or fuel injection systems. This sensor detects camshaft rotation and provides phase input to the engine control unit (ECU) for precise ignition timing and sequential fuel-injection synchronization in FADEC/EEC systems. Working in tandem with the crankshaft sensor, it ensures accurate engine management during all flight phases.
Installation and testing must follow the engine manufacturer's maintenance procedures and comply with 14 CFR 33.28 engine control-system requirements. The sensor meets RTCA DO-160 environmental qualification standards for airborne equipment.
