The b-3599 is a 3/8-24 self-locking hex nut designed to maintain clamp load under aircraft vibration. A prevailing-torque feature (nylon insert or deformed thread) resists loosening during engine operation and flight conditions. Commonly installed on engine brackets, accessory mounts, and structural fastener applications where vibration resistance is critical.
Steel construction with cadmium or zinc plating provides corrosion protection. Installation requires verification of thread engagement and prevailing-torque per aircraft maintenance manual and FAA AC 43.13-1B guidance.
