The DIN 439-M5-A2 is a metric thin hex jam nut with M5 threads made from A2 stainless steel. This secondary locking nut threads onto a primary nut to resist vibration-induced loosening through friction and mechanical interference. Commonly installed on aircraft control cable hardware, cable tensioners, and adjustable linkages where vibration presents loosening risks.
