The DIN 935 M5 castellated hex nut in A2 stainless steel features six radial slots designed to accept a cotter pin for positive locking. This slotted castle nut secures drilled-shank bolts in aircraft control linkages, preventing loosening under vibration and flight loads. Installation requires aligning the nut slots with the bolt hole, then inserting and bending the cotter pin to lock the assembly.
Equivalent to ISO 7035 and comparable to AN310/AN320 methods used in general aviation maintenance. The A2 stainless material provides corrosion resistance in exposed airframe applications.
