The e311ts is an overvoltage sensor for aircraft DC electrical systems. It monitors 14 or 28-volt bus voltage and automatically shuts down the alternator or voltage regulator if voltage exceeds safe limits, protecting avionics and battery from damage. Installed in the alternator field or regulator circuit, the sensor interrupts excitation current during overvoltage conditions.
Installation requires integration with the aircraft wiring diagram and thorough testing per the maintenance manual to ensure proper voltage threshold response and system protection.
