The MS21045C06 is a self-locking hexagon nut manufactured from corrosion-resistant steel and qualified to Military Standard MS21045. Its all-metal prevailing-torque mechanism maintains clamp load under vibration without requiring secondary locking devices. Rated for continuous service to 450°F, this nut resists loosening in high-vibration airframe and systems assemblies.
Installation requires a torque wrench to achieve specified prevailing torque per the applicable maintenance manual. Replace the nut if locking torque falls below specification limits, as prevailing-torque effectiveness diminishes with reuse.
