The MS21051L4 is a self-locking plate nut (nutplate) manufactured from steel for vibration-resistant fastening in aircraft structures. This captive nut rivets to thin panels and access doors where backside access is impractical, then accepts a machine screw for secure closure. The self-locking feature maintains prevailing torque without loosening under vibration and flight loads.
Installation involves riveting the nutplate to the structure, then inserting and torquing the machine screw per aircraft maintenance manual specifications. Commonly used on removable panels, inspection covers, and maintenance access points throughout general and commercial aircraft.
